Working Well Together

Woodburn Primary School is a non-denominational school that serves the Woodburn area of Dalkeith. We have a Nursery and 25 Primary 1-7 classes. In October 2024 an extension to our grounds and building was opened. This provides additional classrooms, a STEM room, gym hall, MUGA and enhanced outdoor play spaces.

Woodburn Primary is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment for all. In this fast changing world we strive to equip our children with the skills they will require to become Successful learners, Confident Individuals, Independent Learners and Responsible Citizens. We place considerable value on trust, respect, nurture, equality and equity.

We have an active Parent Partnership whose role is to participate in policy development and support the school in its drive towards continuous improvement.  They also organise fundraising and community events during the school year.

This website will provide you with the necessary information about our school but it is not intended to replace the personal contact we have with families. We believe that by actively seeking to work in partnership, we will maximise the opportunity for every child to realise their full potential.

Our Visions and Values at WPS

With our Vision and Values at the centre of our work and in partnership with our children, families and wider community we aim for our learners to:

1. Enjoy learning and strive to achieve more than they have before.

2. Acquire knowledge and skills to apply learning in school and beyond.

3. Be responsible global citizens who take responsibility for themselves, their actions and their behaviour.
